Ban Tian Yao
Oolong tea leaves, three times medium roasted using traditional Litchi charcoal.
Ban Tian Yao translates literally as "waist halfway to the sky" due to the fact that the tea trees grow in the narrow passageways of the Wuyi cliffs.
This is one of the most famous oolong teas from the Wuyishan region and due the difficulties in harvesting it, it is a very rare and sought after tea.
Provenance: Qing Shiyan, Wuyishan, China
A rich body of vanilla and magnolia complimented by the slightly bitter notes of charred oak, leading to earthy umami notes in later brews.
